THE BETA TOOLS SPEEDRS TEAM RIDERS FINISH THE CATALAN GP WITH SIXTH AND SEVENTH PLACE
The fifteenth race of the Championship ended with two solid results for the Beta Tools SpeedRS Team: Celestino Vietti crossed the line in sixth position, followed by his teammate Alonso López in seventh.
For López, who started from ninth on the grid thanks to penalties handed to two riders yesterday, the race began with a strong launch that quickly brought him into the top five. After holding sixth position for much of the race, Alonso eventually finished seventh, scoring valuable points after a run of unlucky weekends.
A great comeback for Vietti, who started from 15th on the grid and immediately gained positions in the opening corners, climbing up to ninth. A contact with Canet on lap two dropped him out of the top ten. Celestino, however, didn’t give up and, with an incredible pace, fought his way back up to finish in sixth place.
ALONSO LÓPEZ #21: 7th
“It was a positive race. We had a good start, straight into the top five, and for many laps we were able to maintain a strong pace. In the end, I finished seventh, bringing home some important points after a few difficult weekends. Maybe I was missing a bit more confidence, but the feeling with the bike has improved during the weekend and that’s the most important thing. See you in Misano”.
CELESTINO VIETTI #13: 6th
“It was a good weekend: we made some steps forward and we were competitive from start to finish. Unfortunately, yesterday’s qualifying mistake cost us a bit, because starting from the back meant we immediately found ourselves in a pretty wild group. After a couple of contacts I dropped down, but our race pace was very close to that of the top three, so we could have fought for the podium. Still, we take a lot of positives home: in just a few days we’ll have another weekend where we can confirm what we found here and keep improving. Great job from the whole team, let’s keep going this way”.
